“Orbis non sufficit – The world is not enough,” it has said the famous movie character James Bond’s device since the year 1969. The existing universe did not suffice the Chinese fashion designer Guo Pei no longer, so that she created an entirely new universe. There, light and darkness coexisted so, how an angel and a devil acted side by side. The human being was no longer master of the world, because monkeys sat on the ruler’s throne under the guidance of prophets. Gods received a human, human beings an animal, plants and animals a divine nature. This was the background of the couture collection for fall and winter of 2019/2020. Under the glass dome in the inner courtyard of the High School of Fine Arts in Paris on 3rd July 2019, the fashion show was, under the motto “Alternate Universe”, an alternate narration of reincarnation; so death was just another state of rebirth.
