A journey into the heart of a metropolis, which effected a “patchwork of urban sensations and emotions”, was the basis of the ready‑to‑wear collection for fall and winter of 2019/2020 at the brand “MARYLING”, based in Milan. Under the motto “METROPOLIS WINTER RAINBOW”, the garments mirrored the dystopian mood in the feature movie “METROPOLIS” of the German-American film director and screenwriter Friedrich Christian Anton Lang alias Fritz Lang from the year 1927. The colourful Berlin expressionism, taken on the form of several masterpieces of visual arts, became tactile by style elements such as intarsia, complex patterns, signature textures, colours with “intrinsic” power, shapes and silhouettes due to the purity of the cuts and lines. The expressionistic verve made the collection an avant-garde, because art came into fashion and fashion became art. On 20th February 2019, the responsible fashion designer Avshalom Gur presented the collection in a marquee in the courtyard of the Teulié Military School.
