The phenomenon, where optimistic mood, future euphoria, fear of the future, apocalyptic mood, world-weariness, fascination of death and transience, falling back into childishness, taedium vitae, happy-go-lucky attitude, frivolity and decadence come together, has a name: fin de siècle. The cultural decay had been the main theme in the era before the First World War, which had enabled cult figures such as bohemian, dandy, snob and femme fatale to stand out. The Beirut fashion designer Georges Chakra now took up the uncertainty of this era, of the belle époque.
