The German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche had once remarked to German composer Richard Wagner: “Wagner has not thought about anything as deeply as about salvation. His opera is the opera of salvation.” In the work “Tannhäuser and the Minnesingers’ Contest at Wartburg” from the year 1845, it is about the salvation by the sacrificial death of a female lover, namely the later St. Elizabeth, Landgravine of Thuringia, for the minstrel Siboto of Tannhausen. So it says at the final choir: “Hail! Hail! To this miracle of grace, hail! / Salvation was given to the world …” Paris fashion designer Stéphane Rolland took on the idea of salvation with the couture collection for spring and summer of 2018.
