The fashion designer Elisabetta Franchi from Granarolo dell’Emilia near Bologna likes it theatrical. After her homage to María Eva Duarte de Perón, aka Evita, in the last season, she ventured to leap to America in the late nineteenth century for the ready‑to‑wear collection for spring and summer 2018. It had been a time, when it had been about emancipation with grim determination. Realizing their new power, women had begun to dress to their own gusto; skirts had shrunk, dresses had lost volume.
